Little is known about ha-Satan, as his appearances in Judaic holy writ are few and far between. His name means simply, "the accuser," in Hebrew. Famous mostly for making Job's life a living hell and destroying the earthly existence of Avior, he also makes brief appearances standing against Israel in other parts of the Tanakh. According to the book of Avior, he sired Yosiah, the youngest of the Nephilim.
